Special category (health) data
Health information is sensitive and we treat it with extra care. We only collect it as part of a screening with your explicit consent, we use it solely to give you your results and any recommended follow-up, and we store it securely. We do not share your health results with anyone without your consent, except where we are required to by law.
Our lawful bases
We rely on: your consent (for marketing emails and for processing health data); our legitimate interests (to run the charity and respond to enquiries); the performance of a service you have asked for (your booking); and legal obligations (such as Gift Aid and financial record keeping).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us operate, such as our donation platform (for example JustGiving or Stripe), our email and newsletter provider, and our website and analytics tools. These providers only process your data on our instructions. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose we collected it, or as required by law. Gift Aid and financial records are kept for the period HMRC requires. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Booking and health data is kept only as long as needed to provide your care and meet our obligations.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email Contact@themitchyfoundation.org.uk. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies to help it work and to understand how visitors use it. You can control or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Marketing consent
We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. We use a double opt-in process, meaning you confirm your email before we add you, which follows ICO best practice. You can opt out at any time.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated.
